Below is information about the XBox 360 Light Codes. You can use these codes to have a better idea of what the problem is with your console. | |
Powered On |
|
![]() |
When the console is switched on and there is a green light, this indicates that the console is functioning normally. The number of green lights indicates how many controllers are connected. |
Hardware Failure |
|
![]() |
When one red light is flashing, this indicates that a component in the XBox 360 has failed and may need repair. This is generally accompanied by a two digit error code on the screen (E74 for example). |
Overheating |
|
![]() |
If the console has reached temperature that are unsafe, the console will shut down and flash 2 red lights. The CPU and GPU fans will remain powered on until the components cool off. This could indicate that repairs need to be done on the console. |
General Hardware Failure |
|
![]() |
If multiple component in the console fail, 3 red lights will flash. Unlike with the Hardware Failure, there will be no error code on the screen. We recommend that you bring in the console for repair. |
AV Cable Error |
|
![]() |
If the XBox 360 does not detect AV cables due to either the cables being unplugged or a serious problem, 4 lights will flash red. Check your AV cables and if the problem persists, your XBox 360 will need repairs. |
